Who We Are

Smile Sensations is an NHS and private family dental practice based in Sidcup, Kent. We have been caring for patients in the local community for over 80 years, and we pride ourselves on the kind of long-term relationships that only a truly patient-centred practice can build.

We offer a comprehensive range of dental treatments, from routine check-ups and hygiene appointments to cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implants, and facial aesthetics. Whether you are visiting us for the first time or have been a patient for years, you can expect the same friendly, attentive care every time you walk through our door.

Our Story

The practice at 268-270 Days Lane has been serving the Sidcup community since 1940. What began under Dr Asari as Days Lane Dental Practice became, in time, the practice it is today: a busy, warm and highly-regarded dental home for families across Sidcup and the surrounding area.

Dr Punam Burmi qualified with her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Royal London Hospital in 2008. In the years that followed, she worked as an associate at Parrock Dental and Implant Centre in Gravesend, building her clinical skills and developing a particular interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. In 2017, she took over the practice from Dr Asari, bringing with her a clear vision for the kind of care she wanted to provide.

That vision is best summed up in Punam's own words: she believes in treating every patient the same way she would treat a family member or close friend. From that principle, everything else follows: the time taken to explain treatment options properly, the care taken with nervous patients, the investment in technology and training, and the pride taken in the team she has built around her.

In 2017, the practice became Smile Sensations, a name that reflects both the treatments on offer and the confidence patients leave with. The range has grown well beyond the traditional dental surgery: alongside NHS and private general dentistry, the practice now offers teeth whitening, teeth straightening, hygiene and periodontics, restorative dentistry, and a full range of facial aesthetics, all under one roof, from a team patients know and trust.

Smile Sensations has always been a mixed NHS and private practice, and that matters to Punam. Good dental care should be available to everyone in the community, regardless of how they choose to fund their treatment.

Today the practice is home to three clinicians and a dedicated support team, an in-house laboratory, and more than 260 five-star Google reviews. The bungalow on Days Lane is fully accessible, with a ramp and a ground-floor surgery for patients with mobility needs. And while the name above the door has changed, the community at the heart of the practice has not.

Our Approach

Patient wellbeing is our number one concern. We believe everyone has the right to excellent dental care, and we take the time to understand your individual needs before recommending any treatment. You will never be rushed, and you will always be given clear, honest information about your options and the costs involved.

We are particularly welcoming to nervous patients. We know that dental anxiety is very real, and our team are trained to put you at ease at every stage of your visit. We invest in the latest pain-relief technology and take a gentle, reassuring approach to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.

We are equally proud of our family-friendly environment. We see patients of all ages and are well used to making younger visitors feel relaxed and welcome.

Our Practice

Smile Sensations is led by Dr Punam Burmi, who has owned the practice since 2017. Punam is committed to understanding each patient's perspective and to delivering dentistry of the highest quality. She has assembled a skilled and dedicated team who share her values and her passion for patient care.

We accept both NHS and private patients, and we offer a Practice Patient Plan covering routine check-ups and hygiene visits for a fixed monthly fee. Details are available at reception.

Our Facilities

Our practice is a single-storey building, making it straightforward to access for patients of all mobility levels. We have a ramp at the entrance, and one of our surgeries is specifically set up to accommodate wheelchair users — please let our receptionist know when booking so we can arrange the most suitable room for you.

We comply with the Equality Act 2010 and are committed to making our practice accessible to everyone.

We also have an in-house dental laboratory, which allows us to produce certain appliances (such as whitening trays and night guards) on site, reducing waiting times for our patients.

Our practice is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
