Frequently Asked Questions

How does Six Month Smiles work?

Six Month Smiles is created from state-of-the-art Lucid-Lok technology that makes the brace feel lightweight and comfortable – with none of the rubbing you’d expect from a metal brace. All components of the Six Month Smiles brace are tooth coloured – so it’s an extremely discreet treatment that barely shows in photographs. And of course, Six Month Smiles’ main appeal is in the name – you really can get dramatically straightened front teeth in as little as six months!

Am I suitable for Six Month Smiles?

Obviously, a consultation at Smile Sensations will be necessary to confirm if you’re a suitable candidate, but generally if you have crooked front teeth but your bite is not affected, then Six Month Smiles could be the ideal solution for you.

    Aligners

Aligners are transparent and custom-made to gradually straighten your teeth without using any metal wires or brackets. This treatment is usually carried out on teeth that need minor movement. The aligners look like clear, flexible retainers and are removable, so you can take them out when eating or brushing your teeth.

    How do Aligners work?

Once impressions are carried out and your work has been assessed by an orthodontic professional we will receive the correct amount of aligners bespoke to your case. You will be required to wear each aligner for approximately 2 weeks at a time. You will then return to the dentist to receive your next aligner, the dentist will assess the movement of your teeth at every visit. An average case will usually require 15 aligners.

    How are Aligners fitted?

When you attend your appointment to have your aligners fitted the dentist will ask if you are happy to have your teeth photographed, this will also be done at the very end so we can compare your before and after.
The dentist will show you your aligners and discuss how many are required to reach your desired goal. They will show you how to place and remove them from your teeth and get you to practice. Once you are happy and confident that you are able to put them in and take them out your appointment will be over! AS EASY AS THAT!
