Frequently Asked Questions

    How does Botulinum toxin work?

Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle under your skin, it works by blocking the signals between nerves and muscles, effectively paralysing them. This has the effect of relaxing and smoothing out the kind of wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contraction – so the treatment is especially effective on frown and laughter lines.

How long do the effects of Botulinum Toxin last?

Generally, between three and six months. Repeated treatment not only softens existing lines and wrinkles, but has the added effect of preventing future ones from forming.

What are the risks of Botulinum Toxin?

Complications are extremely rare – but as with any medication, it can have side effects. These include flu-like symptoms in the 24 hours after treatment, bruising at the treatment site, and temporary weakness or drooping of other facial features if the toxin has moved into areas not intended for treatment. Treatment around the eyes has been known to cause blurred vision, and treatment of the neck has caused breathing problems – but these are extremely rare occurrences. And because the effects of Botulinum toxin are temporary, any side effects are too.

Dermal Filler

Similar to Botulinum Toxin treatment, Dental professionals have knowledge of facial anatomy which is very important when carrying out Dermal filler treatment.  We take great pride in providing our patients with the best treatments suited to them.
